Just outside the centre of Whitby, this cottage is decked out for a seaside break. It’s a two-minute to the train station, where you can catch the vintage steam train across the Yorkshire Moors. The bars, pubs and fish and chip restaurants of the harbour are five minutes from your doorstep and it’s a ten-minute walk to the haunting ruins of Whitby Abbey. Soft leather sofas await in the living room after a day of exploring and the decor is decidedly beachy. Kitchen cabinets in seafoam blue hide myriad appliances and crockery for every meal of the day and the dining table is rustic lightwood. Bedrooms with distressed dressers and nautical trinkets leave you dreaming of the beach, which is just ten minutes away on foot.

About Whitby

The ruins of Whitby Abbey, set atop a windy hill overlooking the town, are just like a scene from a gothic novel. When the sun sets, ghost tours amble through the cobbled streets, revealing the town’s dramatic history. By day it’s all idyllic fishing village vibes, with a hint of Victorian holidays.
