High on the hillside, this home in Looe is something special. Step out onto the private balcony and bask in the sea breeze, admiring the spectacular views across the estuary and over the water. You'll get the same vistas from the sunny dining nook, making it the perfect spot for breakfast and a coffee each morning. Both bedrooms have their own seaside style, while two sleek bathrooms mean you can avoid queues for the shower. They're subtle, but the nautical nods add a whole lot of charm while the rustic touches – like the tree stump footstool and wooden countertops – bring a cosy and warm feel. For a relaxed night at home, pour yourself a glass of bubbly (your host leaves a bottle of organic Prosecco for you to enjoy), then pop your favourite show on the TV and sprawl out on the sofa. When you're ready to explore, head into town for a walk along the beach, followed by a bite to eat at one of the many pubs, restaurants and cafes nearby. East Looe Beach is just a seven-minute walk away and the town centre is even closer, so this is an excellent base for a Cornish getaway.

Home truths

The kitchen is on the smaller side, but it still has all the essentials for at-home cooking, plus a Nespresso machine for your morning caffeine boost

There's a bit of a slope and quite a few steps to reach the home, so it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility

A parking space is included – that said, we don't think a car is necessary unless you want to travel further afield

Guests with young children should note that the sash windows are quite low – when we visited there were no window locks

Child-friendly amenities such as a highchair are available upon request

We'd recommend researching local restaurants and booking ahead of your trip – over busy periods, local eateries can book up weeks in advance

About Looe

Straddling the River Looe, with East Looe on one bank and West Looe on the other, the town of Looe has been a desirable destination for summer holidays to the British seaside since the Victorian era. The river is both its lifeblood – the town is still a working fishing port – and its focal point. You’ll find that most activities cluster along its length, whether you’re crossing the charming...
