A contemporary, light-filled apartment in the mountains, featuring heated wooden floors, high ceilings and exposed metal beams. It's located in Artíes, a charming village on the Garonne River in the Aran Valley. Hemmed in by the dramatic Pyrenees, its bars and restaurants jostle with centuries-old churches and a contemporary thermal mineral spa (perfect for a dip après ski). During winter, skiing takes centre stage, with the nearby Baqueira Beret resort a favourite of in-the-know Spaniards: it has 112 runs across more than 150km of slopes. The resort suits intermediate skiers, but with heli skiing and beginner zones also on offer, it has a variety of terrain to rival the Alps. In warmer months, head to the glacial lakes and Mt Pica d’Estats for hiking in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, Catalonia’s largest reserve.
