It's not often you see an authentic 400-year-old home that's as cutting edge with its tech as this one. Recently renovated, this Grade II-listed two-bed cottage has fast broadband, three 43-inch smart TVs with Netflix and even USB ports in its plug sockets. Without compromising the rustic charm, conveyed by its original beams, stone walls and wood-fired stove. As a package, it makes for an atmospheric and practical base to explore all the delights of Whitby. From the seaside town's very old (its ruined abbey, a short walk away, is said to have been the inspiration for the novel Dracula) to brand-new (the harbour bridge installed in 2020 offers panoramas of the town from the sea). Not to mention Whitby's two-mile-long beach, amusements, golf, go-karts and fish and chips that are regularly voted the best in the UK. And with the nearest shop and local pub located just 450 metres away – you'll have ease and convenience at hand here. Kicking off your shoes here (there's space to store them on the boot rack at the entrance) after a fun-filled day out on Whitby Beach or hiking in the North York Moors is made all the more appealing, knowing that... the host provides complimentary slippers to keep your feet cosy too.
