Flagstone floors, wood-burning stoves and a walled garden out the back, this place retains all the charm of a traditional Yorkshire cottage, with a few modern comforts thrown in. Underfloor heating for one (flagstone flooring is beautiful but chilly otherwise), and a sleek, grey kitchen brightened by large skylights. Based in the heart of the market town of Hawes in Wensleydale, you're a minute's walk from the popular pubs, tea rooms, and quirky shops that characterise a visit to Yorkshire. Head to Wensleydale Creamery to witness how the famous cheese is made, and be sure to stock up on local produce at the deli – there's plenty of storage space in the kitchen. The period home also lies within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Here, over two thousand square miles of moors, valleys, hills, and quaint villages are yours to explore. On dry days dine out on the patio in the afternoon sun, where you can hear the soothing sounds of Hawes Falls as you eat and drink into the evening.
