Kent is known as the Garden of England and it’s easy to see how it earned its moniker when you arrive at this gorgeous converted barn. Surrounded by lush lawns and centuries-old trees, this space is an escape from the modern age without losing any of the modern conveniences. Old wooden beams and farmhouse doors blend beautifully with contemporary design features, and an abundance of windows offer enticing countryside views and a refreshing sense of space. Though the attractions of Sissinghurst and Cranbrook as well as numerous National Trust properties are within a half hour drive away, we recommend ditching the car for at least one day and exploring the hiking trails in the surrounding countryside – that is of course after you’ve fuelled up on brunch rustled up in the high-spec kitchen (and if you’re lucky, you might even find some fresh free-range eggs from the resident hens in your welcome basket).
