With glorious views of Appledore Quay and easy access to lovely sandy beaches, this home makes for a delightful base for trips to Devon. The apartment is on the second floor, so the views of the estuary are gorgeous from dawn until dusk. And when the sun sets, there’s a telescope ready for stargazing in the clear skies – you could spend your whole stay looking out of the huge windows. When you can tear your eyes away from the view, you’ll be glad of the comfortable furnishings and thoughtful touches. You’re also just above a delicatessen and tearoom, so you needn’t travel far for a Devonshire cream tea. In the morning you might like to walk four minutes into the centre of Appledore, past the brightly coloured fishermen’s cottages, to visit the art galleries and craft shops. Pop into a cafe for coffee before strolling to the quay to watch the fishing boats and yachts in the distance. After lunch at the deli downstairs, hop on the small passenger ferry that whips you across the bay to Instow. There you’ll find a beautiful sandy beach – and hopefully an ice cream. Surfers will be pleased to be a nine-minute drive from the Blue Flag beach of Westward Ho! However you spend your time, returning to the bright but cosy apartment will feel liking coming home. Sip wine in a bubble bath while someone else nips out for fish and chips, then sink onto one of the huge sofas for a night watching the stars.
