Just one hundred metres from the water’s edge, this quiet cottage in Polruan is far enough from the action to feel like an escape but close enough that a short walk brings you to two characterful pubs and a quick three-mile drive places you at Lansallos Beach. The unusual “upside down” configuration – bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor, lounge and kitchen up top – is designed to make the most of those stellar views across the harbour. Throw open the windows and watch the boats bob on the gentle waves as you nurse your morning coffee. When it’s fair out, pull on your walking boots and follow the coastline to Lantic Bay, a leisurely thirty-six-minute amble, or hop on the ferry and pootle over to Fowey. Come home, windswept and worn out for a well-earned gin and tonic in the tidy courtyard or a strong cup of tea in the cosy living space.
