Don't be fooled by the mock Tudor facade, this home is full of modern touches inside – the kitchen in particular, with its smooth grey counter-tops and huge skylight above. The house is spread across four floors and was once part of the village hall and theatre. The double-height ceiling in the living room and the mezzanine allows large groups to hang out, without feeling crammed in. Several of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, with two walk-in shower rooms and a deep bath, which is perfect for washing off the saltwater after a dip in the North Sea. The spot is in the quaint heart of Thorpeness. Peter Pan author, J M Barrie, is honoured at The Meare, with a manmade Never Never Land lake. The shingle beach is only a short stroll, as are pubs and restaurants. Bikes can be delivered straight to this home, and then taken on a leisurely ride along the flat road to Aldeburgh, a town famous for its brewery and fish and chips.
