You'll find this sleek home just moments from Whitby Beach. It's bright, tranquil and homey, made even better by the sea views out the big bay windows. In the living room, there's a cosy fireplace for chilly evenings and plenty of plush seating to sprawl out on. But the kitchen is the heart of this home – with a huge dining table and marble countertops offering lots of prep space, this is where families can hang out and reminisce over delicious home-cooked meals. Open the French doors and step onto the private garden, where you can sit with a glass of wine while kids and pups run in the yard. Upstairs, there are five comfortable bedrooms, the star of which is the sumptuous master. After a day at the beach, sink into the lush freestanding tub and watch the waves break on the shore – some guests have even seen dolphins swimming in the water. Best of all is the location. It's up on the West Cliff, looking out over the beach and the North Sea. A short stroll down the hill gets you to Whitby's main drag, where the arcades, fish and chip shops and pubs evoke an old-fashioned,... seaside charm. The famous Abbey, part of the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula, is a twenty-five-minute walk away – it's a bit of a climb, but trust us, the views over town are totally worth it.

Home truths
Guests can access the home via a secure key safe
We don't think a car is necessary if you're staying in Whitby, but there's parking for up to four cars at the front of the drive
If you decide to travel by train, Whitby Station is a ten-minute walk away
The host can provide a cot on request
We don't recommend the small double in the fourth bedroom for two adults – we think it's a better fit for either two small children or one adult guest
The outside table is a little small – there's not enough space for all eleven guests to dine alfresco

The ruins of Whitby Abbey, set atop a windy hill overlooking the town, are just like a scene from a gothic novel. When the sun sets, ghost tours amble through the cobbled streets, revealing the town’s dramatic history. By day it’s all idyllic fishing village vibes, with a hint of Victorian holidays.
