The breathtaking view of the sea is the star of the show at this modern hillside villa, designed by one of Zakynthos’ leading architects. You will quite literally be walking on water as you follow the infinity pool from the glass-floored living room outside – plunge into the pool and feel like you’re swimming in the Laganas Bay, out towards the Vasilikos peninsula. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding patio doors mean the ocean panoramas accompany you inside and the home faces east, so watch the sunrise with breakfast in bed. As sumptuous as the bedrooms are, with their wooden floors and subtle tones, it’s the social spaces, both inside and out, that are the main draw. Fire up the barbecue and pour the rosé for a long lunch on the patio, prepare cocktails in the bar area to start your evening celebrations, and then either jump in the hot tub to unwind as evening turns to night, or gather on the corner sofa for movie night. If you don’t fancy cooking, there are a couple of tavernas within walking distance, and more at Keri, a quaint local fishing village. If you can tear yourself away from the villa’s plump sunbeds, head to the beach or hire a boat to explore crowd-free coves and caves.
