Inside, your host’s 20th-century family heirlooms give the home a personal touch, while original wooden beams adorn each ceiling and provide a rustic feel. Surrounding the villa, the grounds are the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee in the sun, and there's also a dining area outside under the pergola next to the original horse stable where you can tuck into breakfast. When you're not picnicking on the lawn, drive five minutes into nearby Lucca to explore the historic city. Take a walk on the Renaissance-era walls and try the city's traditional sweet bread, Buccellato. Stock up on local produce at one of the city's outdoor markets, and return to your villa to fire up the pizza oven. End your evening with a glass of local wine outside as dusk falls across the countryside.
