This magnificent sixteenth-century villa, set amidst the green countryside, under the Tuscan sun, is a dream spot for a large family get together, or an escape for a group of friends. Opulence is the name of the game here, and we were immediately seduced by this home’s charm. Firstly, its setting is truly idyllic, with stunning vistas of rolling green hills, punctuated by dark and majestic cypress trees. Evenings are particularly enchanting, and you’ll no doubt find yourself organising elegant suppers and aperitivos, with the glow of the setting sun as your backdrop. The covered, outdoor dining area invites those communal feasts, with the laid-back, dolce-far-niente vibe. In the heat of the afternoon sun, you can cool yourself in the lovely swimming pool, and work on your tan on one of the sun loungers dotted around. The inside of the villa is a stunning mélange of classic Italian style with modern comfort. We love the incredible attention to detail with which the interior has been decorated, and you’ll find yourself wandering around these rooms, admiring the art and the unique pieces scattered about. There is more than enough space to lounge about, with comfy sofas and chairs, and you can... also enjoy sumptuous indoor feasts in the large dining room. The luxurious feeling continues into the bedrooms, which are plush, spacious, and stylishly decorated, with comfy beds carrying the promise of restful sleep. Wake up to the sound of the birds outside, and plan your day of exploring the countryside while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed Italian coffee on your terrace.

There’s a buzzy nightlife scene centred around cool enotecas and craft beer bars. On Via Fillungo, you’ll find some of Lucca’s finest boutiques, with high-end...
