Wooden beams, an open-hearth fireplace, and stone arches give the plot a sense of history, which is added to by antique furniture and rugs. Days start by pushing open the French doors in bedrooms and looking out over the Tuscan hills, before breakfast on the wrought-iron table on the patio. The pool is perfect for cooling off from the heat, with sun loungers for relaxing. As night starts to fall, the long wooden table under the straw pergola is the only place to be – watching the pink and orange sky turn dark.
