There's more than a smidge of Balinese influence at this beautiful home on the Costa Blanca, from the straw-roofed Bali house to the sand-coloured shutters that double up as a headboard in the master suite. Whether you're a family or a group of friends, the space is filled with social areas. Dinner is served in the tiled dining room, with its floating linen curtains and white ceiling beams – or make it alfresco on the traditional Spanish patio, next to the grand stone arches. Beach bums can drive the 15 minutes to Arenal, or swap the sea for the long turquoise pool. For the more lively, there's a volleyball net, table tennis table, and trampoline. After all that play, the cream-coloured bedrooms offer a sense of serenity, with four-poster beds, rattan furniture, and reclaimed wooden tables.
