While this home may look modern from the outside, it's part of some incredible history. Set on an English estate spanning 5000 acres and having been in the same family for 500 years, the plot is sat right on a lake. Exploring the Lake District has never been easier; simply stumble out of the backdoor and head down to the jetty for summer rows. The estate has won Cumbria's Tourism's 2019 'Experience of the Year' award - and with activities such as paddle boarding, clay pigeon shooting, and off-road driving, it's not hard to see why. When it's time to crash out, the spot's Moroccan-inspired interior provides a bright retreat, from multi-coloured dining chairs to an aquamarine kitchen. Bedrooms are more classic, with muted tones, antique furniture, and - more often than not - views over the water. This vistas are even clearer from the patio - pick up supplies from the farm shop, light the BBQ, and watch the sun set in a place that's inspired some of the UK's most famous poets.

About The Lake District

Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
