Surrounded by cypress trees, this traditional villa – constructed with the historic 'pietra del fiume' stone from the area – is the perfect introduction to Umbria. It lies in a spectacular position near Lake Corbara, commanding beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Its design means you’re never more than a few steps from the gardens, where you’ll find a swimming pool, sun loungers, and a terrace with dining tables. Inside, traditional style takes centre-stage, with exposed wooden beams and antique furniture adorning each room. Some modernity sneaks through, including the curved bookshelf in the living room and the huge gas range-style cooker in the kitchen. Foodies will relish cooking here, with an traditional hearth adding a touch of charm to the kitchen – though the barbecue makes for an even better summer dining experience. Wake up to tranquil views of the cypresses from your bedroom before taking your morning coffee in the garden, and then head out to explore the local area. There are plenty of walks to explore around Lake Corbara, and the hilltop city of Todi – one of the most beautiful in Umbria – is just a 30-minute drive away.

With steep, twisting lanes, underground Roman tunnels and three-ringed city walls, history oozes from every nook and...
