Design, art and functionality work in perfect harmony at this rural villa. The high beamed ceilings and framed sections of old stone walls honour the home's roots, but it's not just traditional charm on offer. There's plenty of contemporary comforts and 21st century style to be found, including abstract artwork on the walls, a 360-degree rotating LCD TV in the bright living area and a sparkling infinity pool ideal for cooling off on balmy summer days. Inside, everything is cool and sleek, but outside, it's a true oasis. Laze about on the Balinese sunbed or soak up some rays on the funky deck chairs, all while admiring the idyllic orchard scenery. In the evenings, fire up the brick barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal and a glass of Mallorcan wine while the sun goes down. You're a little off the beaten track here, though it's only a five-minute drive to Muro's selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. The beach is a bit further – Platja de Muro and Alcúdia are about thirty minutes away – but we think the extra time is worth it for such a peaceful spot.
