This stunning Edwardian property perched on the estuary of the River Deben is built on brick stilts. At low tide, you can step straight onto the beach and walk among the fishing boats, while at high tide, when the water washes under the home, you'll feel like you're at sea. We fell in love with the whitewashed wooden interiors, which marry mod cons with gorgeous period features – such as the hand-crafted winding staircase. The master bedroom exudes romance through and through with 360-degree panoramic views. Grab some freshly caught fish and unleash your inner Rick Stein in the fully equipped kitchen, before sitting down to savour long lunches on the farmhouse table in the quaint dining room. The ferry, which is a mere 100 yards away, will take you to the deserted beaches and manor of Bawdsey. There's a whole host of outdoor activities right on your doorstep – take your pick from sailing, fishing, hiking, cycling and bird watching. When all that sea air has left you feeling refreshed, uncork a bottle of wine, sit down on the veranda and take in the gentle sound of lapping water.
