Get a taste of heritage Britain with a stay at this sophisticated Aldeburgh townhouse. Aldeburgh was once home to the composer Benjamin Britten and is now known for Maggi Hambling’s arresting contemporary sculpture in his honour on the beach. This Suffolk town is a quintessential slice of English charm and so is this home. Velvet Chesterfield sofas, William Morris-inspired wallpapers and original fireplaces introduce notes of British eccentricity without going overboard. Take tea on the garden patio area or settle down with a good novel by the bay window. There’s a lovely family-sized dining table with some fun wallpaper to admire while you tuck into supper. For art fans, the Aldeburgh Festival is a perennial draw to the area, but all year round you’ll be able to enjoy secluded beach walks, antique shops and Britten’s former abode, The Red House which is open for guests to visit.

About Aldeburgh
When the sun sets on Aldeburgh, the pastel-coloured houses that line the shore seem to glow and the pebbled beach takes on a rainbow hue. Here, the buildings come right up to the beach, so you just need to hop over the coastal wall to reach the sea. The seaside town was once home to Benjamin Britten, and it still retains its creative pull, with the Aldeburgh Festival of Music...
