Don't get us wrong, we love this Rome apartment's contemporary interior, with its bold artwork and the vast collection of books, but this address is all about the balcony. Covered with mosaic tiling and climbing plants, it's a pretty spot in itself. However, it shines with the view out over the Piazza del Popolo – a beautiful sight with the Egyptian obelisk in the centre and majestic fountains on either side. Overlooking the whole scene are the towering trees from the Villa Borghese — a huge park that can be reached in five minutes from your front door. It's the sort of picturesque vantage point that people search the city for, but you'll have it all to yourself. We can imagine nothing better than espresso-sipping and people-watching as the city comes to life in the morning. If you need a change of scenery, however, you can walk to the banks of the River Tiber in under five minutes or stroll over to see the Trevi Fountain in under twenty. Keep walking through this historical city and you'll reach all the iconic landmarks, including the spectacular colosseum. After a day of sightseeing, treat yourself to some freshly-cooked pasta and creamy gelato for a true Italian experience.

About Spagna

Spagna is, perhaps unsurprisingly, focussed around the eponymous Piazza di Spagna. Along with the Trevi fountain, it’s one of the most visited sights in the entire city. Things weren’t always so auspicious – in the 16th century, the area was Rome’s red light district, but today it’s better known for the vine-covered romance of Via Margutta, home to Gregory Peck's impoverished journalist in Roman Holiday. This is not the place...
