London is a city that prides itself on reinvention. When this unassuming wood workshop went up in Victorian times, little did those constructing it know that these solid brick walls would one day house a luxury apartment which is a model for intelligent interior design. The original large windows have been kept, and they continue to invite copious amounts of natural light into the living space. Only today, it bounces pleasingly off the stark white walls and interacts with an array of textures – from dark wood flooring and veined marble worktops to leather dining chairs and velvet cushions. Inside, the minimalist kitchen and marble-tiled bathrooms are pleasing to the eye, and there's even a cute roof terrace that offers views of The Shard and the London Eye. The location is ideal, too. Within ten minutes' walk, you have The Old Vic Theatre – and The Young Vic, for that matter – while a further five minutes in the opposite direction will get you to the street food vendors and organic artisans of Borough Market.
