Barcelona is already well known as an incredibly colourful and vibrant city, but this flamboyant flat in the Eixample district adds another dimension. In a restored nineteenth-century building, the traditional exterior doesn’t give much away about what you might find inside. But trust us, your jaw will drop when you see the bold, brightly coloured murals emblazoned all over the walls. We absolutely love the balcony – with a dining set as well as a comfy modern chair and cushions, you can enjoy a morning espresso, a beer at lunch, or sangría in the evening. As if the interiors and location weren’t enough, your host can arrange airport pick-up, as well as a hamper for your arrival (including tasty Catalan cheeses and decadent smoked salmon). And as if your own arty residence wasn’t enough, the Museum of Contemporary Art is less than a twenty-minute stroll, and Gaudí’s Casa Milà is just 2 kilometres away.
