At a moment of time when minimalism and muted tones rule the roost in the interior design world, it can be refreshing to see a home embrace the uplifting potential of colour — case in point, this apartment in the Sant Gervasi neighbourhood of Barcelona. The blue tiles in the kitchen, orange accent walls and multi-coloured dining chairs bring a joyous atmosphere to the space, while the cute balcony with seating for two and a view of the street below is just as welcome. The vibrancy is in keeping with this corner of the city, which is packed full of boutiques, bars and restaurants. The first house that Antoni Gaudí ever designed, Casa Vicens, is three minutes' walk around the corner, as is the nearest metro station, Fontana, for when you want to explore the furthest reaches of Barcelona.

About Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
Sarrià was the last of the neighbouring villages annexed by Barcelona in the 1920s, allowing it to retain a lot of its individual flavour. For centuries, affluent families have been choosing the peaceful Sarrià as their base due to its proximity to the green wonders of surrounding parks. While it’s not central, Sarrià has a good number of attractions in its vicinity, including the stunning Tibidabo mountain, as well as weekend markets and local events.
