The great thing about living so close to a park is that it can feel like your private garden (albeit one you've generously allowed everybody else to visit). This elegant apartment sits just across the street from El Parque del Buen Retiro, an expansive green space in the heart of Madrid filled with gardens, fountains and galleries — Palacio de Cristal is only fifteen minutes' walk away, for example. It would be fair to say that the design choices were inspired by this proximity to nature, with a tastefully painted tropical motif on the wall of the living area and an enclosed glass balcony off the main bedroom filled with plants. Surprisingly, this isn't the only balcony, with another giving wonderful views of the park — who wouldn't want to wake up to that sight? Back inside, the herringbone parquet flooring, dazzlingly white kitchen and chic statement lighting combine for an interior that exudes contemporary luxury. Staying here will show you why this is one of the most coveted neighbourhoods in the Spanish capital.
