Just down the road from Tetbury, this lavish Cotswold manor sits in the pretty village of Avening. It’s a family home, designed by leading stylists who have an eye for detail. Antique tables are piled high with art books and the walls are adorned with an eclectic array of modern works and oil paintings. A period fireplace sits at the centre of the grand lounge, there’s a smaller sitting room with a wood-burner, or head to the snug, lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. The breakfasting kitchen has beautiful flagstone floors and is warmed by the gentle purr of an AGA. Lavish dinners can be served in the formal dining room, and after-dinner fun awaits in the games room with its pool table and big TV. Glass doors open up to the garden, which is particularly large for a spot in the centre of the village. There’s outdoor dining on the patio, a gazebo dappled with greenery for cocktails, a humpback bridge across the stream, and glasshouses like the manor houses of old.
