It's hard not to feel instantly relaxed upon stepping into this apartment, thanks to the bright living area and soothing hues of white and blue. Although it's a studio, it makes the most of the layout – it's surprisingly roomy, and clever furniture placement makes it seem like there are three separate spaces. Sprawl out on the cushy sofa with a glass of Portuguese wine, rustle up light bites in the kitchen and enjoy them at the breakfast bar. Best of all is the location – you're close to pretty much everything, including busses and metros. Wander down Avenue dos Aliados and marvel at the architecture (reachable in seven minutes), pick up fresh produce at Bolhão Market (ten minutes on foot) or climb to the top of Clérigos Tower for sweeping city views (a ten-minute walk away). In the evenings, tuck into a delicious meal or grab a drink at one of the bars and restaurants – your list of choices is endless – before making your way home for some well-deserved...

Home truths

  • This is a studio apartment

  • This home is on the first floor without an elevator – be prepared to climb some steps

  • The kitchen lacks an oven and a dishwasher, though there is a hob and microwave – it's best suited for light bites and quick breakfasts

  • There's also a coffee machine, but you'll need to supply your own coffee

  • A crib and high chair can be provided on request – there's a €25/week fee

  • There's no washing machine here, but there's a laundromat a two-minute walk away
