If you're heading to Porto for a couple's getaway or a solo jaunt, this slick apartment could be just the ticket. Three floor-to-ceiling windows line the far side of the living space and ensure that the interior is always bathed in natural light. During the warmer months, these can be opened and the Juliet balconies let you watch the street life below. The interior is dominated by cleansing whites and muted greys, which makes for an instantly soothing atmosphere. The kitchen is welcomingly large given the flat's headcount and gives you the option of taking a night off exploring the city's restaurants. Elsewhere in the building, there's a communal gym if you ever want to squeeze in a quick workout, but there are plenty of sights in the locale if you want to get your exercise through hitting your daily step count. Jardins do Palácio de Cristal and the Super Bock Arena can be reached in five minutes on foot, while Palácio da Bolsa is a half-hour stroll along the banks of the River Duoro.

About Miragaia

Situated to the west of the city centre, and leading down to the Douro river, Miragaia is a jumble of medieval streets. Like Ribeira, it has brightly coloured buildings and sweeping views over the water. But unlike the city’s main riverside hub, Miragaia is tucked away from the usual tourist trails. In the evenings its restaurant and bar scene thrives, but it’s generally calmer area, with a strong local population...
