This pristine apartment near Albufeira feels traditionally Portuguese. Bright white walls keep the interior cool during the day and the built-in stone sofa around a feature fireplace is a nice touch. There’s a modern, L-shaped couch too if you want to (literally) put your feet up. The kitchen is tucked away in an alcove, but an archway to the living room means the chef can keep one ear in the conversation. There’s some bohemian and rustic about the big bedroom, a soothing spot to drift off to sleep. The real bonus is the private balcony, set up for dining outside and overlooking the swimming pools and greenery beyond. If you’re feeling social, head down to the complex’s shared pool for a cooling dip, or to bag a lounger in the sun. The area is packed with things to do – from learning to surf on the soft sanded beaches to swimming with dolphins and kayaking the emerald green sea. It’s a leisurely twenty-five-minute dander into the centre of Albufeira, or a seven-minute drive.
