On an ancient settlement which was once the home of Devon aristocracy, the Pomeroy Family, this old agricultural building is set on tranquil farmland. A four-minute drive from the quaint, creekside village of Newton Ferrers, this country escape is a rural stone structure that’s sure to surprise you inside. Ascend the weathered, flagstone steps of this historical home, but step inside to a superbly modern and fresh decor. The original timber beams have been painted teal, which contrasts beautifully with orange cushions on modern furniture, and the glass dining table. You’ve got a private garden at the back of the house, as well as gated access to a huge two-acre meadow that’s private to the farm. Make use of the barbecue in the Meadow, or take a wholesome picnic out to the lush land. Keep your eyes peeled for rabbits and badgers as you nibble cucumber sandwiches – you’ll be sharing the peaceful woodland with plenty of wildlife. If you’re on the hunt for history, there are plenty of castles and monuments nearby, such as the medieval Church of St Peter the Poor Fisherman, a thirteen-minute drive from home.
