On sunny days, open the bi-fold doors and enjoy the fresh country air as it wafts through the living area, or step out into the courtyard and for an alfresco afternoon tea. Underfloor heating will keep chilly toes at bay while you're rustling up dinner in the kitchen – a bonus for the winter months – while the wet-room style bathroom has a sleek rainfall shower. Make sure to pack comfortable shoes, as there are walking trails aplenty. You're more than welcome to collect fresh eggs for breakfast, swim in the freshwater pond or sign up for an on-site art class – or speak to the host about arranging special experiences, like private chefs and at-home massages. Dyrham Park is right down the street, there's a rumoured Saxon king's burial site behind the farm and both a cafe and pub are within walking distance. It's an excellent spot for a countryside getaway, but if you crave a bit more pace, Bath is only a thirty-minute drive away.
