The nineteenth-century architectural firm Adler & Sullivan was responsible for some of Chicago's most celebrated icons, including the city's Stock Exchange Building, the Auditorium Building and the Carrie Eliza Getty Tomb in Graceland Cemetery. They also designed the building in which this apartment sits in the area known locally as Jewelers Row. You can see a few leftovers from the original design, such as the tall ceilings and large windows, but apart from that, the interior has been thoroughly modernised. The furniture is mid-century in style and character is added from the pieces of artwork and geometric rugs dotted about. One thing that's definitely just as good as it was a century ago is the prime location. As well as plenty of jewellery shops on the street outside, Millenium Park and its collection of eye-catching sculptures can be reached in five minutes on foot — as can the Art Insitute of Chicago.
