Considered the first post of the United States Marine Corps, this neighbourhood is swapping its military history for Michelin-starred restaurants, fashionable boutiques and buzzing bars and pubs. Fill your days here with gourmet meals, baseball games, riverfront walks and strolls along Barracks Row with a local coffee in hand. If you're in the mood to sightsee, lace up your comfiest shoes and walk thirty minutes to the Capitol Building or take the Green Line metro from Navy Yard-Ballpark (ten minutes on foot) towards The Mall. After a busy afternoon, there's nothing better than coming home to this snug apartment, situated in a gorgeous 1930s building surrounded by an ivy-covered courtyard. Rest your tired feet on the cosy sofa, followed by a glass of wine or local ale while streaming your favourite shows and films. When it's time for some shut-eye, pad into the comfortable bedroom and snuggle up for a restful nights sleep. Space is a little tight, we're not going to deny it – especially with no dining table – but we think it's cosy. And the excellent location means you'll spend most of your time here out and about, taking advantage of the nightlife, eateries and endless attractions in DC.
