Housed in a handsome 1930s mansion in the hipster waterfront district of Navy Yard, you'll find this light-filled bolthole for two. Wrought iron gates framed by a quiet green courtyard lead you to the home entrance, while whitewashed interiors with wooden accents and dusky blues create a soothing Scandi vibe inside. Part of a serviced apartment, the space has been thoughtfully designed throughout – from the handy communal luggage storage space to the starter pack with toiletries and home basics inside the apartment. And though this is studio living, we think it’s perfectly formed. The smart kitchen nook feels well separated from the living space and has everything you need to make a morning coffee or rustle up a meal. But let's face it, with some of the city's best dining destinations (Michelin-starred fare included) right on your doorstep, we suspect you'll be eating out in Navy Yard, a lot. Once an industrial shipyard, this district has been reimagined into a buzzy hood with trendy boutiques, waterfront parks, and a boardwalk for hanging out. And how could we forget Nationals Park - DC's major league baseball stadium - just a few blocks away (eighteen minutes on foot). Watch a home run, grab yourself a corndog and a big slice of Americana while you're at it.

Unlike many suburban areas of D.C., which have a singular look and style, DuPont Circle boasts modern, highrise living alongside period townhouses and gorgeous buildings created in the 19th-Century French ‘second Empire’ style – meaning that the aesthetic of...
