Contemporary, cosy and chock-full of conveniences, this apartment in Barcelona's lively Eixample neighbourhood is a hidden gem. Inspired by nature and Mondrian's geometric shapes, the interior is totally cool yet utterly comfortable. We love the mix of modern design with homey features, like the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and vinyl player. The sleek black kitchen is well and truly stocked with cookware for whipping up paella and tapas, while the two stylish bedrooms boast sumptuous beds – there's even an office for those who want to mix business with their getaway. But the star of the show is the private balcony. It overlooks the pretty street below and has a table for alfresco dining in the Spanish sun. Start your day out there with a coffee and end the evening with a local beer as the night rolls in, basking in the slice of city paradise. When it's time to explore, all you need to do is step out the door and Barcelona is your oyster.
