Inspired by the mountains and Japanese minimalism, it's surprising to find this sleek flat in Barcelona's glamorous Salamanca neighbourhood. Clean lines, wooden details, bespoke furniture and monochrome colours are all accounted for, making this a relaxing and cosy place to rest your head on a visit to Madrid. Business travellers can take their pick of which desk to work from – there's a private study off the master as well as a long table in the back of the living area custom-built for remote working. In the evenings, whip up tapas in the chrome kitchen (it has everything you need for cooking) and gather around the dining table with a delicious meal, a bottle of wine and good company. Have a dance as a record spins on the vinyl player, or just snuggle up on the squishy L-shaped sofa for a Netflix movie night. When you're in the mood to explore, just step outside and take your pick. Michelin-star restaurants, upscale food markets, luxury boutiques and trendy bars are par for the course in this postcode. Enjoy a stroll around the picturesque Parque de El Retiro (a ten-minute walk) or hop on the metro at Serrano or Velázquez and zip around the city with ease – Plaza Mayor and central Madrid are just a twenty-minute ride away.

Local guide
About Salamanca
Salamanca is Madrid’s most glamorous and prestigious quarter. Usually associated with aristocratic façades, wide avenues, and luxurious living (atypical for Madrid’s cosy centre), the neighbourhood attracts domestic and international elite. It’s also home to many embassies and private schools, as well as niche museums and designer boutiques along its ‘Golden Mile’. The demanding clientele has made the food scene equally exclusive, but while you’re likely to find quite a few Michelin-star restaurants in the area, there are lots of relaxed tapas bars for those less willing to splash the cash.
