Despite being found in one of the world's biggest and busiest cities, this cottage built in the Victorian era feels remarkably rural. The kitchen has flagstone flooring and a large range cooker for hearty country breakfasts, while the rest of the furnishings are geared towards comfort, especially the plush seating in the living room. Out through the French doors, there's even a quiet garden with both seating on the patio and some well-arranged plant beds. If this whole set-up makes you want to embark upon outdoor pursuits, it's possible to join the Thames Path in fourteen minutes on foot and continue walking along its banks. However, Oxford Street can be reached in half an hour on the tube if you want to see the bright lights of the UK's capital at any point.
