This building was once the site of a major manufacturer and there are certain industrial-chic aspects retained in the current apartment, such as the exposed whitewashed brickwork and the bare lightbulbs hanging artfully from a girder. The huge windows that line the walls feel similarly functional, in that they flood the space with natural light — the fact that they also give wonderful views of the Philadelphia skyline is an added bonus. Despite this direction with the interior design, the minimalist white kitchen and bathroom look completely brand new. We appreciated the mural on the bedroom wall by a local artist, which feels appropriate given the creative spirit of the surrounding Callowhill neighbourhood. Here, it's possible to catch concerts at Franklin Music Hall and Union Transfer, both around ten minutes' walk away, or you can take a wander along The Rail Park, which sits just across the street.
