One for the footloose and fancy-free. This cool loft apartment is right in the most historic part of Downtown (or DTLA), where the cutting edge and the classic combine. Steps from the Metro Red Line that whisks you off to Hollywood in search of fame and fortune (mostly other peoples'), you're also within walking distance of the area's best bars and trendiest eateries. Inside, the apartment manages to combine a retro 90s vibe with a DIY aesthetic that stays on the right side of creative, rather than cluttered. The heartfelt welcome message, the flutter of butterflies adorning the walls and the 'Stay Awesome' mantra above the TV provide a taste of your host's zest for life, and it's impossible not to let it rub off on you. It's impossible (literally and figuratively) to wake up on the wrong side of bed here, and the mattress received a rave review. If you bring yourself to leave your comfortable cocoon, we'd suggest heading up to the rooftop for breathtaking views and an inviting hot tub. Meanwhile, if you'd like some sand with that sun, you can ride the Metro all the way out to Santa Monica, where you can listen to the crashing surf and visit the storied pier.
