As comfortable as it is colourful, this apartment in Madrid’s Puente de Vallecas neighbourhood – just outside the city centre – is an ideal base for those looking to experience life like a local in this vibrant district. With its wood floors, geometric blue feature wall and beach-vibe ornaments, there’s a cool, relaxing feel to this home from the moment you walk through the door. We love the large leafy palm that lends some a jungle feel to the main room and the rattan chandelier above the chic dining table. The bedroom is a pastel paradise with its bold statement wall behind the bed, offering a calm and peaceful setting for a blissful night’s sleep. Outside of your home, your neighbourhood has plenty of supermarkets, restaurants and bars to sample, while both El Retiro Park and the Prado Museum are just under thirty minutes away by public transport. Our recommendation? Make your way to Tío Pío's Hill (a twenty-minute walk) at sunset for breathtaking views over the city.
