A vision of pink beauty against Crete’s rugged hills, this impressive villa in Mournies provides an oasis of calm and relaxation while still being close to the coast and historic Chania. Its immense 4,000 square foot garden sprinkled with olive, avocado and orange orchards is where you’ll want to spend all day, every day – lounging on the deck chairs with a good book, cooling off beneath the outdoor shower and splashing away in the huge pool (there’s an in-built smaller pool for children too). As the light fades and the sky takes on a golden hue, pour yourself a glass of wine from the outdoor bar cart before firing up the oversized stone barbecue for a memorable alfresco feast. Mornings call for sunny breakfasts on the balcony while taking in wide-sweeping hillside views and if the weather turns (we doubt it could) the comfortable living area is all set up with a DVD player and a cosy fireplace. While you could spend all day in your heavenly home and its idyllic garden, set aside an afternoon to explore nearby Chania and its 14th-century Venetian port, just a ten-minute drive away. You’re also a mere ten-minute drive from both sandy Nea... Chora Beach and Golden Beach.
