Formerly a bakery, this handsome stone building is now home to a villa that provides a slightly offbeat place to stay in Santorini. Inside, there are two separate apartments — one on each storey — that both feel typically Mediterranean in spirit, particularly the white walls, flowing fabrics and wooden furnishings. While the outdoor space isn't the largest, the host can't be accused of not wringing every last drop of potential from it. There's not just one, but two Jacuzzis out here, as well as no shortage of loungers and seating on which to soak up the sunshine. Throw in the barbecue and an alfresco dining area, and what more could you need? The surrounding town of Emporio is a charming mix of medieval alleys, whitewashed architecture and historic attractions, like the fifteenth-century Venetian Castle. If you fancy a day at the seaside, however, your nearest beach is just 3km away.
