Stay in cool Chueca with its vibrant gay scene and independent boutiques, bookshops, galleries and bars. There are plenty of interesting museums to visit here, too, including the Museo de Cera, a ten-minute stroll away and the Museo del Romanticismo (two minutes on foot). It's the same walking distance to Sociedad General de Autores y Editores – take some snaps of this stunning example of Modernisme architecture. Or head to Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza with its masterpieces by Van Gogh, Caravaggio and Lichtenstein, a fifteen-minute walk. After all that exploring, take a break at one of the cafes on Plaza de Chueca, named after Spanish composer and author Federico Chueca and then take a five-minute saunter back to your stylish apartment. Open up the two sets of French doors to the Juliet balcony and let the fresh air in. Then, relax on the comfy, silver grey Chesterfield style sofa with a glass of wine. Although decorated in a minimalist style, it still has a homely vibe with its large plants and colourful artwork. Later, whip up some gambas al ajillo in the sleek kitchen and enjoy with your loved ones at the large industrial table. The open plan living space is a great... place to entertain family and friends – it's the perfect Madrid bolthole.
