Tucked away among the trees in the picturesque Valle d'Itria, this traditional trullo is the perfect place for those in search of the simple life. From the moment you pull up at its stone facade and conical roof, you'll be transported back in time. Step inside and discover an elegant simplicity to this home, with wooden ceilings, exposed stone walls and a cosy wood burner, much is as it would have been during the nineteenth-century heyday of this uniquely Apulian architectural style. Only the minimum of mod cons have been incorporated to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay. With a gorgeous Mediterranean climate, Puglia is all about a life lived outdoors, and this trullo certainly doesn't disappoint. Within the immaculately tended gardens, you'll find a large swimming pool, a pergola with outdoor seating and a brick oven that's ideal for wood-fired feasts under the stars. The grounds are dotted with cherry trees that make for a spectacular springtime show of pink blossoms, and in the summer, you're free to pick the fruit straight from the trees. You can't come to the heel of Italy and not pay a visit to Alberobello, home to more than 1,000 Unesco-listed trulli houses – a mere fifteen-minute... drive away. Elsewhere, half an hour's drive will see you arrive at Polignano a Mare, which is known for its beautiful beaches and steep limestone cliffs. Finally, approximately fifty kilometres away, the city of Bari is well worth a visit to experience its thriving local food scene.
