Just a hop, skip and a jump away from the banks of Loch Ness, this delightful homestead is just the ticket for a rural getaway in the Highlands. Days here are best spent outdoors, whether you're trekking through the dense Urquhart Bay Woods, exploring the ruins of Urquhart Castle or hiking to the top of Meall Fuar-mhonaidh for gorgeous views of the water. Treat yourself after a long walk at the pubs and cafes in Drumnadrochit, or if you prefer a homecooked meal, head home and rustle up something tasty in the roomy kitchen. With plenty of crockery, cookware and counter space, you'll have everything you need to show off your culinary skills. Take a load off in the cosy lounge, where squishy leather sofas beckon after a ramble through the countryside. Chill out with a movie or a good book – there's a small selection of both – before sprawling out on the comfortable beds. But if you can't get enough of the fresh air, pour yourself a glass of wine and watch the sun go down on the small patio, basking in the peaceful scenery of the Highlands.

About Inverness
With Loch Ness right next door, empty Glens dotting the countryside and the Speyside whisky region just down the road, folk tend to use Inverness as a base for exploring the untamed Scottish Highlands. But lingering a while in this small city has its rewards. Strolling between the willow trees on the banks of the River Ness and catching a glimpse of Inverness Castle is just one of those rewards....
