In the very heart of Lisbon’s historic centre, this apartment makes for the perfect city bolthole. First of all, the location is unbeatable – you’re a five-minute walk from the Santa Justa Lift for a city panorama, seven minutes from the beautiful ruins of the Convento do Carmo, and two minutes from the buzzing hub of Rossio Square. The streets of Baixa around the apartment are filled with restaurants, bars and cafés too. Inside, you can still see the wooden supports on display, prevalent in Lisbon buildings after the 1755 earthquake. This, combined with beautiful azulejo tiles in the bedroom and living room really bring a feel of old-world Lisbon. Though everything else is distinctly 21st-century – the Marshall speaker, flatscreen TV and sleek, minimalist kitchenette. It’s got everything you need to whip up a quick breakfast, or perhaps walk 70 metres to the nearest pasta del nata bakery for an iconic taste of Lisbon.
