Andros’ location in the north of the Cyclades islands is perfectly suited for action-packed, island-hopping holidays, as well as beachside bliss. With mountains and valleys, it’s also wonderful for hiking, or can equally offer you a bustling afternoon in its capital – Andros Town. Set in grounds that were once teeming with agricultural workers, this traditional ‘konaki’ home used to play host to tired farmhands. But that old-time hospitality certainly hasn’t gone away. In fact, it’s simply been brought up to date. For a modern-day version, you've got a secluded courtyard with a swimming pool and hot tub, built from local rock. You might not have been tilling the fields, but you still deserve some relaxation. Inside its stone walls, traditional interiors make for a cosy, country escape. Rich, timber beams line the ceilings, and rustic wooden furniture sits majestically in the living space. Other quintessentially Greek features include woven decorations and a chunky stone shower – and of course views out to the striking blue sea, which you can admire from the comfort of your private verandah.
