You're well placed to visit the beaches that line this stretch of the north coast towards the island's capital of Heraklion, forty-five minutes away. Alternatively, head the other way to the picturesque port town of Agios Nikolaos, 26km away, or continue ten minutes further to Elounda, where you can board a boat over to the former leper colony at Spinalonga.
