Between Norfolk’s two most visited sights – the coast and the broads – the tiny hamlet of Edingthorpe is a rural retreat. This converted barn might only be a seven-minute drive from the bustling market town of North Walsham, but its agricultural roots are set firmly in peaceful surroundings. As you approach the grounds deep in the countryside, crunching up the gravel driveway, you’re immediately transported back to a simpler time. Its stone exterior and terracotta roof tiles still have that barn-like aesthetic, but huge windows and glass doors are the first sign of its modern and luxurious renovation. That said, the living space features chunky beams and a classic inglenook fireplace, so you’re not missing out on English country tradition. But smart TVs and a fresh, white colour scheme bring it into the 21st-century. In a similar vein, the kitchen is the proud host of a huge Aga, the only appliance you'll ever want to cook a roast dinner or shepherd's pie on. But luxury rears its head again, with a generous welcome hamper waiting here for your arrival. Tuck into the goodies and kick back on the sofa in the main lounge, or in the annexe – take your pick.
