Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

This clapboard home in New Orleans is cute as a button. It’s in the Lower Garden District of the city, a five-minute drive (or twenty-five-minute walk) to the buzzing French Quarter where old-world architecture is on display and the jazz bars of Bourbon Street toot long into the night. Your neighbourhood is a quiet spot to return to, where cottage-like houses stand side-by-side, but there are still bars and restaurants a-plenty, especially on St Charles Avenue. It’s a typically New Orleans clapboard-and-porch building and, inside, you’ve got a pretty original fireplace set in exposed brickwork. The living area is a place of light, courtesy of big windows and crisp white walls. A sleek breakfast bar provides a little extra prep space in the kitchen and a spot for a mint julep before dinner. Bedrooms are quiet havens with plush beds for a sound sleep.

About New Orleans

New Orleans is one lively city – whether we’re talking food, candy-coloured architecture or nightlife, there’s nowhere else in the United States – or even the world – quite like this Louisianan cultural mecca. You’ll find indigenous cuisine here that hybridizes Caribbean, African and European influences – so embrace your inner hedonist and dive head first into Gumbo, beignets and po’ boys. It’s a city where jazz is as prevalent...
